Saturday Night Live: Halsey hosting, performing on February 9

Given that we’ve only had two new episodes of Saturday Night Live in January, that meant one thing to us more than any other — we were going to have an eventful month of February. We just had to learn who the next host was and when they will be on the show — and that was the focus of this particular article.

So did SNL predict an actor, an alumni, a musician, or an out-of-left-field choice for the next new episode? Well, they’re going the musician route, and in a rather surprising way! Halsey is going to host and be the musical guest on the February 9 episode. We’ll be the first to admit that we’re not altogether aware of Halsey outside of a couple of songs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she is a bad choice. As a matter of fact, we’ve seen a number of singers turn out to be really good hosts for this show when the dust settles, and we certainly do think that this could be the case here, as well.

As some people out there probably know, Halsey has a recent history being around SNL — she was the musical guest not too long ago and she’s also collaborated with Lil Wayne for a performance. She’s clearly been around the cast and crew for long enough in order for them to know whether or not she’s funny and we’ve got a good bit of faith in their judgment on this. If they are pretty confident that she is going to be good at this, then we’re going to have a good bit of faith in her.

Could SNL have hired a different person in order to be the musical guest, while also had Halsey host? We guess, but then there would probably be further questions as to why she wasn’t performing.
