This weekend’s new episode of Saturday Night Live is coming up in a mere matter of hours … so what should you expect to see?

First and foremost, let’s talk the show’s host. James McAvoy is a super-talented guy and it’s  hard to question that even for a second. He’s got a skill set that allows him to do a lot of different things, and even in the promo below, you can hear him take on a number of different accents. He’s someone who is ready to embrace whatever sort of fun that he can have tonight, and while we don’t know how he’ll fare in this particular live setting, we’re intrigued enough to see him give it a shot.

As for whether or not we foresee there being a spoof of his new movie Glass, we’re not 100% optimistic about that. One of the big reasons why is simply due to the fact that this movie hasn’t really captured the pop-culture zeitgeist in the way that a lot of people probably predicted that it would. While it has made a pretty hefty chunk of change, the reviews for it weren’t overwhelmingly positive and this isn’t up there with M. Night Shyamalan’s other recent film in Split.

Now, when it comes to musical guest Meek Mill, we do think that there could be some merit in seeing him in a sketch or two. He’s a talented artist, but he also represents something more than that in his battle for prison reform. We wouldn’t be shocked if, one way or another, the performer has some sort of additional platform.

Are there any specific sketches we’re expecting?

We feel like the end of the government shutdown (at least for now) yesterday probably threw producers through a loop, given that there didn’t seem to be all that much of a sign that this was coming leading up to that moment. They may now be scrambling to try to figure out a way in which to spoof the way in which it ended or some other headlines from the past few days. That’s one of the big challenges about working on a show like this — you have to be super-flexible to whatever is happening around you.
