On Friday morning, GLAAD confirmed that the series is up once more for the Drama Series category, alongside a number of other great shows including Billions, Black Lightning, Grey’s Anatomy, The Handmaid’s Tale, Instinct, Pose, STAR, Supergirl, and Wynonna Earp. All of these shows are doing a great job providing something a little bit different to the LGBTQ community — there are so many great characters across all of these different shows and it’s wonderful to see them get a little recognition.

Shadowhunters has taken home a prize before in this category, and we absolutely do think that winning it again would mean a lot. First and foremost, it would be a nice recognition of the tremendous work this show does for representation and for offering hope for many of its young viewers — the relationship between Magnus and Alec means so much to so many different people out there, and we’re thrilled that there are twelve more episodes coming up. Based on what we’re hearing, these episodes will be great for Malec with a number of great moments for them! We definitely know that the show is kicking off with the two in an interesting spot, as we’re going to be seeing them do whatever they can to contend with Magnus losing his magic. It could cause him to be in a bit of an identity crisis, but the good news is that he does still know that he has someone at his side in Alec who cares about him immensely.

The 2019 GLAAD Awards are actually held in two different locations and times — one ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 28 at famed The Beverly Hilton, and another will be in New York on Saturday, May 4 at the Hilton Midtown. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for the announcement of the results down the line.

Over the past twelve months already, we’ve seen Shadowhunters take home prizes at a number of awards shows, including the Teen Choice Awards and then also the People’s Choice Awards. It also got a little bit of love from the CarterMatt Awards late last year, as well…
