Batwoman spoilers: Who will be joining the series?

Batwoman

It’s taken a good while, but we’re finally starting to get a good sense of some of the people who will be turning up in the Batwoman pilot. To date, the only information that’s been out there is that it will feature Ruby Rose as the title character, who we first met during the Elseworlds crossover event.

According to a report from Deadline, Meagan Tandy of Teen Wolf fame is going to be appearing as a part of the cast in the role of Sophie Moore, a military academy graduate who now works in Gotham as a private security agent. We should note that (comic spoiler alert) Sophie Moore, in the source material, had a romantic connection to Batwoman’s alter ego of Kate Kane. It remains to be seen if that’s going to translate over to the show.

Meanwhile, Camrus Johnson of Luke Cage is also set to appear as Luke Fox, son of Lucius Fox and someone who is responsible for looking after Bruce Wayne’s estate. The location of Bruce is one of the mysteries at the heart of the series right now, as nobody’s really got much of an idea where he’s gone and what’s happened with him. (Another interesting comic-book note — in the comics, Luke Fox is Batwing, something that may or may not come to fruition here.

Finally, Nicole Kang of YOU fame is going to be playing Mary Hamilton, Kate’s step-sister and someone who is prone to excitement. We’re not as overtly aware of any major comic-book connection here, but there could very well be one. This show, like others within the Arrowverse, is going to likely take some liberties to the source material while also trying to find some various ways to stay true to it. That’s something that we’ve seen in shows like The Flash and also Supergirl, who combine characters and elements from other comics into ones that are already well-known within their own universe.

At the moment, Batwoman has not been confirmed to series — yet, at the same time it feels almost like a sure thing based on what we know about the Arrowverse and also the prestige that’s out there for this character. We’re not sure this gets picked up to pilot unless The CW is super-confident about its future chances. It’s right in their wheelhouse and they have a particularly well-known lead.
