Arrow season 7 spoilers: David Ramsey definitely open to playing Green Lantern
While the Arrowverse has featured in some capacity a number of prominent characters from the DC world, including Superman, Harley Quinn (briefly), and at least some Wonder Woman mythology, they haven’t dived too deep into Green Lantern just yet. It’s surprising given the character’s popularity, but we do think the potential is nonetheless there.
If nothing else, we known David Ramsey is game for it.
Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, Ramsey (who is making his directorial debut with Monday night’s new episode) made it abundantly clear that he would love to play this character … even if nothing is a sure thing at the moment:
“We’ve been talking about that ring since Season 1 … I always loved the idea of being able to jump into the John Stewart mythos, obviously, but I also loved the idea that we were creating something that didn’t exist before. John Diggle never existed before. We created this character, Spartan, that never existed in the comics or in any other universe, and now it’s part of the comics. So that was always something and continues to be something I’m really proud of. But who can resist playing the Green Lantern? So yeah, was I excited when I saw that? Without a doubt. Will it ever happen? Who knows. I don’t have the answer to that — it’s way above my paygrade — but it’s something [I] would love to do.”
We do think that there’s a chance to feature this, even briefly, during the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, but the one reservation we have here is that we end up seeing John Diggle be pushed to the side for the sake of John Stewart. It’s a cool idea for maybe an episode or so, but Diggle’s an incredible hero and one of the most important people in the entire Arrowverse. He’s already shown that you don’t need a ring or super-powers to do some really awesome stuff.
