God Friended Me episode 14 spoilers: CC Sabathia to guest star

God Friended Me

God Friended Me episode 14 may still be a little ways away from airing on CBS, but it’s still going to be here earlier than you might think.

Today, the network confirmed that the series will return from, more or less, a month-long hiatus on Sunday, February 17 with an episode entitled “The Trouble with the Curve.” This is one that is going to involve baseball and, to go along with it, will also feature an appearance from famous Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia. He’s not a person that we know for his acting work, but it may give the show a little bit more authenticity to New York City. We still don’t know how Miles or any other character gets in contact with him (we are talking about one of the most-famous pitchers in baseball), but somehow, they must find a way.

Below, CarterMatt has the official God Friended Me episode 14 synopsis with some more news when it comes to what lies ahead:

“The Trouble with the Curve” – Miles reconnects with his high school baseball teammate, Cal (Charles Brice), when he gets a friend suggestion for a promising young baseball player who Cal is coaching. Also, Arthur feels territorial when he’s informed that the Diocese is sending an assistant rector to mentor under him, on GOD FRIENDED ME, Sunday, Feb. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. New York Yankee CC Sabathia guest stars as himself.

This episode (at least on the surface) doesn’t seem to be all that preoccupied with trying to solve the mystery of the God Account. We don’t think the show is necessarily abandoning that mission by any means, but this is a recognition in some ways of the wide array of different stories the show is trying to develop. You have Arthur’s life at the church, the God Account, the professional careers for all of the main characters, and then also some of the relationships that are here — we definitely do think that the writers are building up something more with Cara and Miles, even though it may take a little while for us to get to where we want to when it comes to this relationship. We are okay with that since we love a nice slow burn when it comes to our ships.

On the other side of this episode, there are still six more episodes this season for the writers to take on some more challenges — after that, we do remain hopeful for the show’s season 2 future.
