Where is Hannah Khoury on NCIS: New Orleans? Will she be back?

In a recent post on Twitter, Necar Zadegan did confirm that she’s not departing the CBS show — even if we don’t see her character in the immediate future. Following the events of season 5 episode 11, Hannah made it clear that she was going to be spending a little bit of time with her family, who she’d just connected with in New Orleans after hiding out for a while there. That is why the character wasn’t present tonight. There’s no particular length to her absence specified, but you don’t have anything to worry about in terms of the long-term future.
One of the things that we are really excited about at the moment with Hannah is mostly that she is one of those rare new characters on a procedural show who viewers really take to after a short period of time. It’s hard sometimes to make that fast impression just because many viewers out there are not always quick to accept someone new coming into the world and the established chemistry that’s already there. For Hnanah, there was an even bigger challenge given that in some ways, she’s had to take Pride’s old gig at times with the team. That set her up with even more of a challenge.
In the end, though, Zadegan’s done a great job bringing this character to life. Hannah is tough but still relatable, and she’s got a backstory and style that is unique. We’ve also had a couple of good spotlights on her — the writers have taken their time introducing her so it’s not too much, too soon. Yet, you’re still getting opportunities to see her shine and more are likely coming.
Following tonight’s episode, NCIS: New Orleans will return to the air in early February. Since this show tends to operate fairly close to real-time, maybe that little break means that it will speed up Hannah’s return to the team. We’d love to see some more opportunities for her and Pride to work together, especially with the collective experience they have.
