New Amsterdam episode 13 return date: A look towards ‘The Blues’
The first thing that is worth noting here is, of course, the fact that there’s no new episode next week. That shouldn’t be too shocking, given of course the fact that the State of the Union is currently scheduled then and networks don’t typically like to compete against major political events since they tend to get clobbered. New Amsterdam is going to return on February 5 for the first of presumably many episodes that are going to air throughout the month. (This is February sweeps, after all!) This is a chance for the show to tell some big stories, and it does feel clear at the moment that when it comes to Dr. Max Goodwin, his cancer battle is going to be at the center of almost everything. You’re not going to suddenly seem him recover quickly just because it’s something that we want to see happen. This is just the sort of thing that is going to take a lot of time and attention on the story’s part. Hopefully, we’ll get to the point where there is some good news on it eventually.

02/05/2019 (10:01PM – 11:00PM) (Tuesday) : Max (Ryan Eggold) continues to work to solve underlying problems within the hospital despite his continuing struggles with treatment. Meanwhile, Reynolds (Jocko Sims) makes the choice to do a costly surgery to determine an elusive diagnosis and Bloom (Janet Montgomery) must face her personal demons head-on. Also starring Freema Agyeman as Dr. Helen Sharpe, Anupam Kher as Dr. Vijay Kapoor and Tyler Labine as Dr. Iggy Frome. Guest starring Zabryna Guevara as Dora, Alejandro Hernandez as Casey, Dierdre Friel as Ella, Vandit Bhatt as Ella and Sendhil Ramamurthy Dr. Panthaki.
On the other side of this episode…
There are a couple of things worth noting. For starters, New Amsterdam has a 22-episode season so there is a rather impressive wealth of stories still to tell. Beyond that, episode 13 is the last of the original order. With that in mind, episode 14 onward should be some of the strongest to date. These episodes will have the luxury of audience feedback, and knowing even more what viewers think of the show and what they like and don’t like. There have already been some adjustments to that leading up to this episode, but this installment is going to be where things go to a whole new level.
