Come a week from Thursday Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 13 will air on NBC and all signs suggest that we’re gearing up for something big. For starters, the title here is “A Story of More Woe” and the Shakespearean implications there are pretty clear. Beyond just that, we’re also going to have a chance to see Amanda Rollins give birth!

Below, CarterMatt has the official Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 13 synopsis for you with some more news as to what’s coming up next:

01/31/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : Benson (Mariska Hargitay) tries to help two teenaged sisters after their father is killed. Meanwhile, Rollins (Kelli Giddish) goes into labor. Also starring Ice T, Peter Scanavino and Philip Winchester. Guest starring George Newbern (Dr. Al), Talitha Bateman (Laura Moore), Alex Kramer (Greg Callahan) and Zoe Colletti (Britney Moore).

If you recall from the promo for this episode, the case-of-the-week is going to raise a really interesting question about these two sisters: Did they kill their father themselves? That may not appear to be the case at first, but the more the team looks into this, the more that particular question could start to come out. This would certainly be shocking … but we also cannot pretend that it would be the most shocking thing that has ever happened within the world of SVU. After all, this is a place where there are almost-constant shockers and difficult cases that the team takes on every week.

As for Rollins welcoming her new baby into the world there’s little that needs to be said other than a big congratulations! We probably will have both the character and Kelli Giddish on maternity leave for a little while after this, which means that the SVU may either operate with a shorter staff or they will bring someone else in temporarily to help keep the ship running smoothly. We’ll certainly miss her however long she is gone.

One of the ways that they may be handling Rollins being away? Bringing on some great guest stars. We’ve already heard of a few that will be coming in the weeks ahead, and we’ll be reporting on that more soon. For now, let’s take things one episode at a time, especially since this one (which is airing on what is technically the first night of February sweeps) is going to pack quite the emotional punch from start to finish.
