‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert’s ‘Voice’ performance, Phillip Phillips news
We’re doing an abridged version of “American Idol” notes today so that we can focus really on one thing primarily: the performance by Adam Lambert on the finale of “The Voice” in China that we teased yesterday.
Overall, there were two songs that the season 8 star performed (in part alongside contestant Zhang Wei) in “Trespassing” as well as landmark hit “Whataya Want From Me.” Really, the performances are just about as you would expect from a performer of Adam’s caliber: they are fun, exciting, and his style really actually meshes well with some of the bright colors that are present on the familiar “Voice” set.
As we mentioned yesterday, we know that this performance really marks a great opportunity for Adam into not just getting his music into China, but allowing people there to see a little bit more of who he actually is. Piracy runs rampant in the country, and if he can find a way to have consumers actually want to support him via buying his material, this could go a long way considering that this is the most populous country in the world.
A new Phillip Phillips note – For those of you interested in getting yet another update on the reigning champ’s coronation song “Home,” you will be happy to know that the song is still going strong. On the Hot AC chart this week, the track is still sitting pretty at its #8 spot, and is even closing on #7 for the spot.
Meanwhile, the song is also holding strong at #29 on the top 40 chart … where it will hopefully continue to gain momentum in the weeks ahead.

The duet with Zhang Wei was great. But, the duet also demonstrates how good a singer Adam is. Adam transistioned into the duet flawlessly and you could hear the differences between the two singers and how unstrained and soft Adam’s voice was in comparison.

I am from the UK I am a massive fan of Adam Lambert’s 1st I would like to agree with all that Ali said . I am so frustrated with Radio stations they seem to forget that teenages are not the only one’s that listen to music . I am fed up of having the same old, same old stuff played on the radio , and certain singers seem to get on the radio all the time . I feel that some DJ’s take on their own prefrence when deciding what to play …I could be wrong ! When Adam was in the Uk over the summer for the concerts with Queen , he did some Tv show’s and people where like OMG this guy can really sing !! But inless your a fan not many knew of him What is going on with his PR team ?? They should have been using the fact that so many people where seeing Adam sing with Queen and got him on a lot more show’s and Radio 1 which is one of the big radio stations ( not my fav but would have got his name out ) I am still getting asked who he is when I play Trespassing they love the album but do not know much about him . On the up side he does have a large fanbase in the Uk and we will do our best to spread the word on how good Adam is … In the Uk we have many singers who are gay , boy George was never shy about being different . I just want to see more Pr from his team as they missed prime time when he sang with Queen .

Adam Lambert is not only the most incredible male singer alive right now, he is also one of the kindest, most humble and amazingly generous individuals possible. Proof lies in this “thank you” message from Zhang Wei, the incredibly talented young man he sang WWFM with in the above video:
“Dear Adam, I’m so grateful that u let me sing the coolest part of the song. It has been the deepest honour sharing the stage with u. Many thanks, and enjoy the trip to China pal.”
Given the chance to showcase themselves to 500 million viewers on the country’s most popular show, how many celebrities would do what Adam did? Displays of this type of character are not uncommon for Adam and such classy behaviour, combined with his incredible voice, charming personality, amazing music, trojan work ethic and totally dedicated fanbase should easily have earned him a spot at or near the top of the US music industry by now. Hopefully his awesome new single “Trespassing” will finally do the trick.
Please request “Trespassing” now at your local radio station and buy Adam’s # 1 album of the same name, which received critical acclaim all over the world and was even awarded 4 stars by Rolling Stone.

I agree with Tess. The lack of quality in current pop music is deplorable. It’s so much manufactured sound. Everything sounds like everything else. Pop radio targets young teens who have never heard anything else but this artificial, autotuned crap. Yes, there are some great voices out there like Bruno Mars and Adele, but there is also a bunch of trash. It is incomprehensible why radio doesn’t play Mr. Lambert. Well, on second thought, maybe there is a pervasive prejudice, not necessarily because of his sexuality but because he is open and proud of who he is. No closets for Mr. Lambert. His honesty is what attracts his millions of fans. Or maybe they simply don’t know how to deal with his music and unique style. We all know that repetition is what creates hits. If a song gets played over and over, it normally becomes a success. Katy Perry’s Fireworks is clearly the most obnoxious sounds I’ve heard, and my viewpoint is shared among many musical artists. I live in the Austin area, and there is no lack of bands, musicians and wonderful vocalists. I don’t expect sudden enlightenment from the radio honchos, and I’m sincerely glad that other parts of the world appreciate Mr. Lambert’s music and performance abilities. I was privileged to see Adam performing with Queen in London, and those were astounding concerts pleasing many a faithful Freddie Mercury fan. When Adam performed Who Wants to Live Forever, the standing ovation was beautiful. The chemistry between Adam, Brian and Roger was amazing. I recommend naysayers take a listen to Adam’s work with Queen to truly appreciate his masterful vocal abilities in front of a live audience. No lip syncing, no auto tuning–just the magnificent guitar of Brian May, Roger and Rufus drums and a few other outstanding musicians–and of course that voice.

Adam was invited to perform in big shows in China, Russia, etc. Shame on the USA , its media, and its radio stations!…because they don’t value Adam Lambert, who is an American and is the most amazing singer in the world.

The show was watched by at least 500,000,000 people. I’m so glad that the people in China and worldwide got to see how amazing Adam Lambert is. He just owns the stage.

The duet with Adam and the Voice contestant was brilliant. The young man is so talented and has a phenomenal voice. His and Adam’s voice blended together beautifully. Hope this guy wins. I also heard Adam was a guest judge and was on the most popular talk show in China. I’ve seen the performances but not the video of the talk show. Can’t wait.
Btw just my opinion but I don’t get how Home is even selling it’s one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard.
