DAVID RAMSEY DIRECTS HIS FIRST EPISODE OF ARROW – The past comes back to haunt both Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy). Curtis (Echo Kellum) is upset when he discovers that Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) have restarted The Ghost Initiative with Diaz (guest star Kirk Acevedo), China White (guest star Kelly Hu), Kane Wolfman (guest star Liam Hall) and Carrie Cutter (guest star Amy Gumenick). David Ramsey directed the episode written by Onalee Hunter Hughes & Tonya Kong (#711). Original airdate 1/28/2019.
Just based on some of what you’re seeing with that description, there’s a lot to be super-excited about. It’s great, for starters, that there are so many returning characters on this episode, especially villains like China White and Carrie Cutter who there’s always been some untapped potential with. Couldn’t the show have done a little bit more with the two of them than they have? We like to think so, but maybe this is a part of that. It basically does feel like a new version of the Suicide Squad in some form. Remember the previous iteration of that on Arrow? That produced some really fun episodes, and it also gave you a super-small reminder that Harley Quinn is technically a part of the Arrowverse. It’s just for DC Comics reasons that we’re not going to get a chance to see too much more of her!
