Victoria season 3 episode 3 preview: The trip to Osborne House

Victoria season 3 episode 3 will be arriving on PBS in a single week’s time and during this installment, you’ll have a chance to see Victoria struggle with a fascinating internal conflict. If you have a chance to be away from the palace, you of course want to have an opportunity to actually enjoy your surroundings and your family. Yet, that’s a little bit difficult when you are in her position. She recognizes that she will be judged for every single move that she makes, including just how much time she stays away from the palace. She’s a different person now than she was years ago, and she certainly does not want to be in a position where something disastrous happens while she is away and she’s forced to clean up after the fact.

What this show is doing so wonderfully at the moment is showcasing that there is a dark underbelly to being a member of the Royal Family. There are, of course, many benefits, but there’s an ordinate amount of pressure and also an understanding that nothing in your life is truly private. Being away will have its merits, but be prepared for a surprising amount of conflict over the course of the remainder of this season.

At Osborne House, Albert relishes the opportunity to spend time with the family away from London, but Victoria is desperate to get back to the Palace and the business of politics.

Hopefully, this episode will prove itself to be one of the most important in some for the Albert / Victoria relationship; it’s going to be a rather great reminder that these two need to find a way to sort out various issues whether they are at Osborne House, back at the palace, or somewhere else entirely. There are likely some more struggles coming up for them and they have to be prepared for them. We’re only 25% of the way through the season at the moment!

For those of you who do want to see Victoria back at the palace, one thing feels pretty certain: The series will find a way to get back there soon enough. We do occasionally get some detours and deviations, but this show still knows where its bread is ultimately buttered.
