What excites us the most entering this episode is that you’re going to see an opportunity to actual witness change in a real, visual way. Sometimes with this show, it’s bubbling underneath the surface. However, here it is going to be a little bit more at the forefront. With Violet and with Shelagh and Dr. Turner, you’ll get a chance to view it in a rather substantial way.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official Call the Midwife season 8 episode 3 synopsis with some more information as to what you can expect to see:

Valerie (Jennifer Kirby) has to dig deep to help a mother of five come to terms with her son’s birth defect.

The Turner’s (Laura Main, Stephen McGann) oversee a measles vaccination trial at the clinic, but an overly anxious first-time mother causes them great concern. It soon becomes apparent that she is harbouring a great loss, which is set to derail her.

Nurse Crane (Linda Bassett) is determined to make the most of the Whitsun holiday and decides to give the cubs and local residents a most memorable bank holiday by bringing the seaside to Poplar.

Violet (Annabelle Apsion) is overjoyed when she wins the council seat for Poplar North.

Getting a chance to see Violet on board the council is going to be exciting to us, mostly because it’s a chance to see someone like her try to enact change in a real, tangible way as a part of the actual government. That’s not something that we really get a chance to see all that often here. While obviously being on the Poplar North council isn’t exactly the same as being the Prime Minister, a lot of times it can be easy to forget that sometimes, the best way to make the world better is on the ground level. You have a far better view, for starters, of the world that is around you in this form. You can be so far away from the communities that you lose sight of what matters in the process.

To go along with this story, of course you’ll see some of the same emotional stuff that you’ve come to expect from Call the Midwife over the years.
