Manifest episode 12 video: Where is Cal? The journey to find him
How else would you characterize what is coming up? There are a number of things that are at the forefront of the story ahead, but the big one is simply this: The search for Cal. We’ve known for a while that he is one of the most important characters within this entire mystery, but that is also why, unfortunately, there is such an enormous target on the back of Ben and Grace’s son. There are so many forces that are out there, ready and willing to do anything and everything they can in order to use him for their own purposes.
The good news now is that Grace does seem to understand now that there is no shielding Ben from the dangers that lie around every corner. Unfortunately, the bad news here is that it’s more than likely too late in order to change the situation that we are in. Cal has been captured, and the only clues that his family has of finding him are his own prophetic drawings. He’s trying to create for them a road map, and hopefully, they will be able to follow and figure out the clues in time to do something about it.
Beyond this, you also have to hope that these clues, plus some other teasers, offer up some sort of indication as to what is truly going on here. Manifest is in an interesting spot, given that a big part of its story is of course based on what happened to Flight 828. Yet, we do think that answering those questions don’t necessarily mean that the rest of the show has nowhere to go. You don’t want to draw a story out for so long that it just gets tiresome and frustrating for viewers to follow it. It’s better off sometimes to have a natural end point so that you can then just move on to the next phase. We’d encourage the writers to at least answer some questions as to what’s happening here by the end of the season, even if they do not choose to take all of them on.
By the end of this particular episode, we know that we at least need to be closer to some answers on Cal and his role in the larger story. Otherwise, Manifest is just spinning its airplane wheels.
