Bryan Cranston open to Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad movie appearance
Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Cranston made his intentions clear when it comes to his potential future within the Vince Gilligan franchise:
“From a realistic standpoint, if I got called to do the movie or Better Call Saul which I don’t know would ever happen — I really don’t — I would do it in a second.”
So why would Bryan want to stick around within the Breaking Bad world? Well, there’s a pretty simple reason for that: This is a world that made him into a superstar! He feels a sense of loyalty and because of that, it makes a certain degree of sense for him to want to do something again if he gets the call from Vince Gilligan or Peter Gould. The main issue that we foresee here is simply this: Whether or not there is a feasible way in which for him to return. You don’t want to just regurgitate the story of the original Breaking Bad, mostly because that show is very much excellent in its own right. You also don’t want to have a Bryan Cranston cameo just for the sake of having a Bryan Cranston cameo. It’s important for these to really mean something and actually matter in the grand scheme of things.
Personally, we would be fine if Cranston never showed up on Better Call Saul at all, mostly because his story has a defined beginning, middle, and end already. Walt made the choices that he made and because of that, he got the ending to his story that you would have expected. Our preference more with the movie now is that it revolves either around some supplemental character, or is a sequel explaining what happened to someone after the fact. There’s long going to be interest in getting to see someone like Jesse in the aftermath of the series finale … provided that this is something that is desired.
