We do think that a lot of people know Tom Green from his self-titled show, and the reputation that comes along with that is that he is this oddball, over-the-top comedic figure. Yet, what we get from the raw Diary Room footage below (via Entertainment Weekly) is that he’s also very intelligent, so much more than people may expect from him. How else does the guy have every President memorized in order? (Just a reminder: Tom Green is actually Canadian and that’s not something taught in Canadian schools). For some reason Tom told this fact to Anthony Scaramucci and he’s beating himself up over it because apparently Tom Green is already a threat for his challenge presence. Wait … Tom Green is a physical threat?
It feels like part of the challenge with Tom this season is going to be separating fact from fiction, given that there’s a big part of this Diary Room footage that feels almost like an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm with him repeatedly saying that he’s not going to sit there and list off all of the Presidents, only for him to sit there and do it knowing that it likely won’t make it to air. He’s a very random guy (and if you are a fan of his comedy like we are then you probably know that already), and it feels like his real challenge is going to be finding a way to actually keep his head on straight instead of allowing himself to just go completely off-kilter in front of people in the house. He’s not the most focused person in the world and that’s something that could eventually lead to his undoing.
Maybe we don’t get a lot of Tom Green in the house this season, but we have a feeling based on this that he will at least be entertaining however long he is around. The best thing that he can probably do this season is just pair himself off with some people who will have a much larger target on them; if he does this, there’s at least a small chance that he can spend some time lurking under the radar for a while.
