Moving into Supernatural season 14 episode 13, there’s one thing worth noting more than anything else: Jeffrey Dean Morgan. At this point, The CW knows that e is going to be a huge draw for the show. Almost all of the episode is being promoted around the presence of John Winchester, which makes sense given that he hasn’t been on the show in more than a decade.

Would it have been wonderful if Morgan’s return had somehow been a surprise? Absolutely, and we definitely understand why this is the prevailing criticism that is out there for this episode at the moment. It just makes sense for them to announce it early because someone probably would’ve seen Jeffrey around the set and spoiled it anyway. It’s hard to keep these sort of things secret in the social-media age so really, the best thing that you can do is try to find a way in which to unveil him in an exciting, buzz-worthy way. Plus, there is still another mystery out there in precisely how the character turns up. That’s something that the writers have managed to keep at least reasonably under wraps for a little while now.

With all of this spelled out … let’s go ahead and get to the story. Below, CarterMatt has the official Supernatural season 14 episode 13 synopsis for you with some more information when it comes to what’s next:

JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN RETURNS FOR THE 300TH EPISODE – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) look to occult lore for a solution to their latest problem, but instead of a resolution, they find much more than either of them had anticipated. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John Winchester) guest stars. The episode was directed by Robert Singer and written by Andrew Dabb & Meredith Glynn. (#1413). Original Airdate 2/7/2019.

Just from the fact that so many important people are involved behind the scenes with this episode, it should feel pretty clear how seriously the producers are taking this milestone episode. They understand that John is one of the show’s biggest loose ends and that it makes sense for him to come back and actually offer up some peace for some of these characters. Of course, the one challenge here is finding a way to do it in just one episode. There’s only so much time in a single episode!
