Because of Liz Keen, things are now a little bit different and this is where we are at the moment with the show. The sneak peek (via TV Guide) features James Spader’s character trying to figure out a way in which to survive behind bars, and that means trying to establish some sort of rapport with people who are likely interested in wanting to tear him limb from limb. Reddington hears that a criminal or two seem to have a particular vendetta against him (for, as it turns out, a pretty valid reason stemming from their past), and he determines that the best way in which to handle this is to take the issue on head-on. These criminals don’t seem altogether keen to hear from him, but it’s certainly possible that, one way or another, he can either charm them as he has done with so many people (including us!).
One of the things that is the most remarkable about Reddington is that somehow, he communicates with every single person in a way that doesn’t always make them feel singled out in a bad way. He doesn’t treat some of these criminals any different from Liz or people within the FBI. This is an effective way to disarm them, mostly because some of these people are probably not used to being spoken to in the way in which Reddington does. There’s a good chance that they may not know what to do in this given situation and that’s something that he can use to his advantage.
One way or another, we have a feeling that Reddington is going to find a way to rule this prison — it’s just a matter of finding his footing. Out of all of the ways in which Reddington could be taken down, we’d be perhaps the most surprised if he’s murdered by someone behind bars.
