Celebrity Big Brother 2 spotlight: Will Kandi Burruss find a way to win?

The entire Celebrity Big Brother 2 cast is now official, and with that we’re spending this week previewing what to expect from many of them! Consider this article series your guide to understanding what each person brings to the table and also whether or not they have a legitimate chance of winning. Today, the focus is on Kandi Burruss — a Real Housewives of Atlanta star who, at least to us, is one of the more surprising additions to the show. We’re certainly shocked that the reality star is going to be on a show that is airing directly against her own show.

Claim to Fame – She’s a singer, a producer, a businesswoman, and a reality star. She is one of the most-famous Real Housewives stars out there, having been a part of the Atlanta series since the second season. She’s one of the longest-tenured cast members and she’s someone who really helped to set the standard for how to use the show as a launching pad. (Granted, she had success before the show.) It’s mostly a surprise to see her on board given that she really didn’t need to do this; her career’s in a good spot as it is!

Strengths – Kandi is incredibly smart. She knows herself, she knows her brand, and she knows how to get what she wants. We also know that she’s someone who will hustle and fight hard in the house, and she’s certainly used to dealing with strong personalities. We’re not sure that she’s familiar with Big Brother, but she at least knows the ins and outs of reality TV production and we do think that this matters to a certain degree.

Weaknesses – Like with most other reality TV stars who come on Big Brother or another strategy-based show, we have a feeling that Kandi is going to have a hard time shaking the muscle-memory of being on Real Housewives of Atlanta. That show encourages explosive arguments and drama. On Celebrity Big Brother, you need to show more restraint to get far.

We don’t know if it’s a strength or a weakness per se, but we do know that Tamar Braxton and Kandi do know each other. As for what their relationship is now, that remains to be seen.

Outlook This Season – There’s a real reason to be optimistic for Kandi as a part of this season, mostly in that she’s probably going to come into the game a little bit more prepared to do well than some others in the house. She has the reality TV and social experience to do very well here, and we also think that she’s probably studied up on some level before going in. While the women may be outnumbered at the moment entering the game, she’s someone who could easily survive that and make her way to the top.
