Is Jenna Dewan leaving The Resident, and where is Julian Lynn?

Unfortunately, for the first half of tonight’s episode, we’re not entirely sure that the Fox drama did much to satisfy anyone’s curiosity. Rather than giving us clear answers on the character’s condition, they chose to draw things out for as long as humanly possible.
We were certainly worried about the character’s future, mostly because of the fact that Dewan has a lot of other things going on in her career — including another show. That didn’t necessarily mean that they were killing Julian off, but it was a cause for concern. As the episode went along, we started to think more and more that the character wasn’t actually in the land of the living. That was even more apparent when Quovadis and some of their stooges started to create some sort of plan to (seemingly) frame Devon for whatever happened to her.
The crazy thing is that tonight’s episode didn’t fully resolve this cliffhanger — technically, Julian is just MIA and not actually dead just yet … though that may turn out to be the case. She’s somewhere in the ether and so many characters, including Devon, could find themselves in a tough spot waiting for the truth to be revealed here one way or another. It’s something that we are all going to have to wait on as well.
Ironically, the one person who didn’t make it out of the winter premiere alive was Lane Hunter who wasn’t really facing mortal danger going into the episode. We didn’t really expect her to die, but we imagine that this was a big part of the point here — the show wanted to find a way in order to surprise us and they absolutely found a good way to pull that off.
As we move forward from here, we’re sure that there are more wrinkles to come when it comes to Julian on The Resident — but the same could also be said for the majority of stories on this show. At Chastain, we’re used to an environment that is always evolving.
