Deadly Games get Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent: The Champions

There was a part of the episode tonight where we really thought that Cristina Ramos was going to get it based on the audience response. Yet, that didn’t happen. Then, we thought for a second that it would go to Viktor Kee.
Yet, Heidi instead went with Deadly Games after a wonderful, inspired performance that is possibly the best thing we’ve ever seen from a danger act on this show. This was historic! Think back to how many different Golden Buzzer performances we’ve had over the years — since when has a danger act ever gotten one? Pretty much never. It doesn’t happen with this show, which has long been biased towards singers and younger acts with inspirational stories. Heidi really recognized tonight something different, and also an act that took their knife-throwing and sense of danger and drama to a new level. That stunt at the end with the phone? Incredible.
With Deadly Games going into the finals, that does guarantee one thing: We’re going to have some good variety in that final episode. It’s also pretty incredible when you think about what they overcame to get there — winners of not only America’s Got Talent, but also Britain’s Got Talent and both Spain and Holland’s versions of the show.
Of course, we do have one more question after all of this — how are they going to really top what they did tonight? This does mean the stakes are on another level and they have to find a way to come up with something even more intense and dangerous than what they did tonight. Being a great act on America’s Got Talent is all about knowing the audience, and knowing how to escalate the performance from one thing to the next. You have to find a way to keep getting better. Luckily, we think that these two are going to find a way to figure things out — this is an opportunity that we definitely think they will take advantage of.
