Manifest episode 12 preview: The search for Cal + meet the Major

Manifest

We don’t want to call Manifest episode 12 a “game-changing” episode, mostly because you could say the same thing about every episode of this show at this point. One of the merits to this show only getting a 16-episode order is that it gives the writers a chance to deliver one shock after another, and this one is certainly going to have a key hook: The disappearance of Cal. Where he goes, and precisely what he does, could change much of the show as we know it.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Manifest episode 12 synopsis for more information as to what’s coming up next:

01/21/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Monday) : When Cal (Jack Messina) is discovered missing from his bedroom, Grace (Athena Karkanis) and Ben (Josh Dallas) launch a desperate search which takes them to the remote mountains of upstate New York. A tantalizing trail of breadcrumbs leads them to a startling, game-changing discovery. Meanwhile, Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) confronts the deceptive Autumn (Shirley Rumierk), and the shadowy “Major” finally makes an appearance. Also starring J.R. Ramirez and Luna Blaise.

Obviously, finding Cal is going to be the story within this episode with the largest emotional significance, as it should be given that he’s one of the most-important people in this entire mystery. Yet, we don’t want to under-sell the value of meeting the Major and finally understanding more about them. Their presence could be key in really trying to figure out where the remainder of this story goes — it feels like they’re the Big Bad, but in a world where up is down and down is up, maybe there are some wrinkles to them that will be a surprise us when we actually see them in the flesh.

As for the Michaela – Autumn confrontation, let’s just say this: It’s needed. We don’t want to see her continue to get one over on some of these other characters for the rest of the season. Don’t they already have a little bit of an uphill battle? We absolutely think so. Do we think that there’s going to be any resolution to this, or any other story in this episode? Probably not, mostly because of the fact that this is a show that still has four more episodes to go on the other side. However big the surprise is in this episode, they have to find a way to build on this as we move closer to the final episodes until the show’s inevitable renewal and return this fall.
