Outlander season 4 episode 12 promo: Can Murtagh be saved?

Outlander season 4

Outlander season 4 episode 12 will arrive on Starz come Sunday night, and it’s certainly fair to call this installment critical. There are only two episodes left this season, and the promo that we have for you below makes it clear that there is a LOT of ground left to cover.

At the center of it all is the question mentioned in the title. Is there a way to ensure Murtagh’s survival? This character has certainly cheated death before, and his storyline now is one of the writers’ greatest challenges since he is someone who is not around at this point in the books. Yet, he’s a devoted friend to Jamie and Claire and we know that the two of them would likely do what they could to help him … were they aware that he was in trouble. This is where the issue lies, given that it’s hard for anyone to actually reach out to Jamie and Claire while the two of them are on the road. They’re working to track down Roger, and with that, the onus is going to fall on Fergus and Marsali to stop Murtagh from meeting some sort of terrible fate.

If someone doesn’t intervene, it may very well end up being the end of Murtagh in a most-unfortunate way.

Other things worth noting from the promo

Perhaps the biggest one is hearing Jamie’s letter read out as Brianna prepares for what could be one of the most important moments of her life: A confrontation with the man who assaulted her in Stephen Bonnet. For now, it appears as though the notorious pirate is locked away and with the help of Lord John Grey, Bree will be able to communicate with him further. While there is no guarantee of anything, Bree has a chance of being able to face him. The question that we’re left to wonder is whether or not this will help her? Is there any solace in this confrontation, or is justice all she can ever really hope for?

As for what we’re seeing with Roger…

That’s really just all about survival and finding a way to endure long enough so that Jamie and Claire can find him. We’d like to think that Roger will be able to make it through, but this is a tough world in which terrible things often happen. Escaping may be the only option in his mind, but he likely recognizes the fruitlessness of that when he’s surrounded by Mohawk people who know how to hunt and how to track people far better than he does.
