The premiere episode is obviously going to have a lot of ground to cover, whether it be trying to unravel the enormous Clary cliffhanger, seeing what comes next for Magnus without his magic, and then also setting the stage for a number of big events that are coming up down the line. Some of those revolve around the new version of Jonathan showing up. Meanwhile, some others revolve around setting up some interesting relationship stories for down the road.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Shadowhunters season 3 episode 11 synopsis for you:

In the emotional midseason premiere, everyone is dealing with the loss of Clary and are trying to move on best they can. Unbeknownst to them, the SHADOWHUNTERS face a new level of evil that they can’t even imagine with the arrival of Jonathan Morgenstern (Luke Baines), the true form of Clary’s brother.

With the loss of Clary after Lilith’s apartment exploded, Alec, Isabelle and Jace try to come to terms with what has happened. Glad to have their brother back, Alec and Isabelle are still worried about Jace, who is taking the actions of The Owl very hard. Magnus is also mourning the loss of his magic and finds himself in a new position-having to rely on others for help.

Meanwhile, Maia tries to help a devastated Simon who has lost his family and his best friend. But unknown to everyone, Clary is alive and finds herself in a new and dangerous predicament.

Obviously, we don’t think that Clary being alive is the biggest spoiler in the world when it’s something that so many people out there likely anticipated, especially book readers. We never did think that the cliffhanger from the first half of the season was really all about whether or not the character would live. Instead, it was more about the emotional ramifications of what happened to her and whether or not her life will ever be the same on the other side. Remember, shows don’t have to kill someone off in order to enact change.

Now that these details are out there, is it too much to ask for a trailer? Hopefully, this is something that Freeform is planning out before we get too close to the remainder of the season airing.
