Anytime that you can have two big names on your show like Astin and Penn, you have to jump on it — especially with their history doing funny, interesting things. As for how the two are going to be appearing, that’s an interesting story on its own as the two characters will be playing two physicists who have proven Sheldon and Amy’s theory. As great as this news is, the problem is that there is a pretty significant snag after the fact — it may speak in part to the egos of these two characters, and then also the way that women are still sometimes treated within the world of science. We don’t want to make rampant generalizations about everyone, but we certainly think there are some people who may have a thing or two in common with Astin and Penn’s characters.
For some more news all about what is coming in this episode, we suggest that you check out the official The Big Bang Theory season 12 episode 13 synopsis below:
“The Confirmation Polarization” – When Sheldon and Amy’s super asymmetry theory is proven by two physicists, Dr. Pemberton (Sean Astin) and Dr. Campbell (Kal Penn) from Chicago, they’re thrilled, until they try to kick Amy off the Nobel nomination. Also, Bernadette has a big success at work and Penny’s going to be a part of it – whether she wants to or not – on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, Jan. 17 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
We do think the fact that so many characters are either finding success or are on the verge of it speaks to the fact that the show is ending this season — we certainly do think the producers want some of these characters to be happy, but they also don’t want it to happen at the very last minute. However, they also want to ensure that their happiness does not come about via normally-expected ways. Take, for example, Amy being involved in physics when she has done so much work in another field. Or, take whatever could be happening with Penny in this particular episode.
