Chicago Fire season 7 episode 11 promo: Is there still hope for Stella, Severide?

Instead, NBC seems to be making a blanket statement in the promo for next week’s episode that the relationship between Taylor Kinney and Miranda Rae Mayo’s characters is over … even though we’re not 100% sure that it is. This is just where we are at right now as opposed to where we could be in the future.
We wrote this in the preview piece last night, but it bears repeating — Kelly is in a position where there needs to be somewhat of a sea change. He needs to figure out precisely how he wants to move forward and start to be a little bit less self-destructive. If he can figure that out, there is a reasonable chance that he could fix things between the two of them. It’s not as though Stella dumped him because she wasn’t in love with him; she just couldn’t handle the jealousy, the spiraling, and the lack of attention he was giving her. She needs to see effort out of him and someone interested in moving forward in life. This is not her kicking him when he’s down; she was there for him after the death of his father and she’s not asking him to pretend to be someone he’s not; she’s just asking for a give-and-take.
Is Kelly going to want to be the same person that he’s been in the past (including being unlucky in love), or is he going to actually try something different? This is what will define his future, but we have a hard time thinking that he’s going to find someone who cares about him in the way that Stella does.
One other thing to remember
Just because Severide and Stella have issues doesn’t mean that fires are suddenly going to stop in the Windy City. Instead, over the course of this episode you’re going to see more danger, more drama, and these characters have to continue to work together. This is what makes dating your colleague a little bit more difficult.
