Young Sheldon season 3 renewal odds: Why it will continue without Big Bang Theory
In most situations, this is not even something that we would question — after all, it is one of CBS’ highest-rated comedy series, it is mostly liked by critics, and it is a part of a very well-known franchise. Yet, there is one reason for slight concern: The fact that The Big Bang Theory itself is coming to a close a little bit later this season. With that show ending, there may be a reason for some people to be concerned that we are nearing the end of this season, as well.
Yet, we come bearing this news today: Young Sheldon is not going to be going anywhere in the near future. As a matter of fact, there’s a good chance that we’re going to see it for many years to come even without the main show around. Jim Parsons may have wanted to depart The Big Bang Theory, but it won’t be altogether hard for him to continue his role narrating the spin-off show here and there. After all, all he needs to do is stop in occasionally and narrate some lines in a studio.
Here’s what we know in terms of the ratings right now — Young Sheldon is posting a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and then also 10 million viewers. This is a show that has done a really good job of keeping at least most of its Big Bang Theory lead-in, at least in comparison to some of the other shows that have been in this timeslot the years.
When will a renewal be announced?
Think along the lines of the spring. We don’t think that CBS is going to make anyone wait extremely long in order to get some renewal news, mostly due to the fact that they probably want some viewers to be confident that the series is coming back for more. The longer you have to wait, the more there is a little bit of doubt.
To go along with Young Sheldon, we still wouldn’t be shocked if there is some other spin-off to the franchise that is ordered at some point down the line or at least considered. We are talking, after all, about a show with a number of memorable characters and presumably a good bit of story that is left in the tank.
