Today, Balfe walked the red carpet for the major awards show in California, sporting a velvet ensemble that seems to be very much on brand for the show today. We’re getting a chance to see a lot of velvet, but also a lot of really enthusiastic, happy people who were on the carpet today. We’re a little bummed out that we didn’t see more interviews featuring her in the live telecasts that we saw, but there are probably more that are going to be available shortly — nothing to be altogether concerned about there.

Tonight could mark Balfe’s opportunity to win a Globe after multiple nominations for playing the part of Claire Fraser — it’s something that she has long deserved. We are grateful that the Globes have been a little bit more supporting of her and Outlander than some other shows, but it would certainly be nice to get a little bit more recognition for the series as a whole!
Still, even a nomination for a show like Outlander is extremely valuable, mostly in that it does get some people watching and paying attention to a show that may not have been as on their radar as it should have been otherwise. While we know that it does have an extremely loyal audience, one of the best out there, at the same time it doesn’t get a lot of promotion on some of the major networks. The Golden Globes offer them up a platform and if Balfe was to win, we know that she would take advantage of the opportunity to offer up some sort of fantastic speech. She’s someone who both does a brilliant job on the show and then off the show articulating the role, while also standing up for causes and other things she believes in.
