The Bachelor spoilers: Who is the sloth? Meet Alex Dillon

Alex Dillon

There are a number of interesting questions to wonder when it comes to Monday’s The Bachelorbut this is a good one: What’s with the sloth? Out of all of the ideas that are out there for this show, why was this one worth taking one?

Well, one of the important things to remember when it comes to The Bachelor is simply that costumes are a instant in to getting more screen time. While they do not guarantee any final roses, they often are beneficial just when it comes to a given contestant getting their foot in the door. They’re also great for wanting to get on Bachelor in Paradise since it can very much play into some of the shtick that they put on TV for that.

So who is this sloth, really? Think along the lines of Alex Dillon, who is listed on ABC’s website as a 23-year old from Boston who is an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. As for her job, she works as an account manager for an IT staffing agency. Basically, it benefits her greatly to have the sloth costume given that otherwise, she would not have the most exciting backstory in the world. This is rather-clever way to have her stand out amidst what is a very crowded field of women amidst the early part of the show.

One thing that is somewhat interesting is that compared to some other early-season gimmicks, it doesn’t seem as though The Bachelor is making Alex go into overdrive with the sloth costume — she’s not wearing it in some of the promotional photos that are out there and with that in mind, you can probably assume that this is not one of those gimmicks that is going to last forever.

As for where the sloth costume ranks among some of the others that have happened over the years (think in terms of a dolphin / shark, a suit of armor, or just a simple mask), we give it bonus points for creativity. Plus, who doesn’t love a sloth? The only downside to being a sloth is that some people, for one reason or another, may not be familiar with what exactly you are.
