Riverdale season 3 episode 9 (winter premiere) spoilers: Veronica v. Hiram

Graham Phillips

Riverdale season 3 episode 9 is coming your way on January 16, and all signs point towards it being important. How can it not be when it is the winter premiere? It’s the first episode of the year and, beyond that, it’s a chance to see what is going to happen following the events in the fall finale. Hiram, to date, has been able to amass more influence really without fail. Is someone going to be able to take him down? It certainly would be fascinating (and poetic) if it turned out to be his own daughter. Seeing these two characters go toe-to-toe could be one of the most-fascinating selling points of this entire episode. The buildup is there, and from a relationship standpoint we absolutely think that some of the stakes are.

The CW just recently released the official Riverdale season 3 episode 9 synopsis, and you can check that out below in the event you do want some more information on what’s coming up next:

A TOWN WITH NO PEP – With Riverdale in disarray following Hiram’s (Mark Consuelos) takeover, Veronica (Camila Mendes) leads the charge against her father after he takes aim at La Bonne Nuit. Meanwhile, as Betty (Lili Reinhart) reluctantly houses the group of patients who escaped the Sisters of Quiet Mercy, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) confronts a group of desperate Serpents, who have resorted to drastic measures to make ends meet. Finally, Archie (KJ Apa) is forced to face his demons. Madelaine Petsch, Madchen Amick, Luke Perry, Ashleigh Murray, Skeet Ulrich, Casey Cott, Charles Melton and Vanessa Morgan also star. Jeff Hunt directed the episode written by Arabella Anderson (#309). Original airdate 1/16/2019.

If there is a simple hope that we have for this particular episode, it is getting to see a lot of these characters come together and into the same orbit once again. One of the challenges that we saw from them through the first part of the year was that everyone was taking on their own story and with that, we didn’t always have everyone in the same exact spot. This is certainly something that we’d like to see shaken up a little bit in the next part of the season, just as we’d also like to see a few lighter moments. While we do understand that Riverdale is not meant to be a direct adaptation of Archie Comics, there have been some fun moments here and there in the series and it would be nice to see more of those find their way to the surface.
