Below, CarterMatt has the official Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 12 synopsis with some other insight on what’s next — and also a side story that will give a lot of material to Tani and her brother Koa:

“Ka hauli o ka mea hewa ‘ole, he nalowale koke” – MacGarrett and Five-0 support Danny and Rachel (Claire van der Boom) by determining what happened when Grace (Teilor Grubbs) gets into a life-threatening car accident and lands in critical condition. Also, Tani helps Koa (Kunal Sharma) when his rehab patient goes missing, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, Jan. 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

For those out there who do want some larger stories to be told about Danny and his family life, we certainly think that there’s a lot for you to like within this episode. Of course, the downside of that is that we’re seeing it in this sort of devastating context. Danny may be wanting to find answers as a cop, but really he’s going to be doing it as a father. He’s going to need Steve like never before, mostly because he can be a stabilizing presence for him. The same goes for everyone else in Five-0 — they’re an Ohana for a reason. They help to make sure they’re okay through thick and thin.

Ultimately, this Danny story is a big part of what we want to see throughout the remainder of season 9 — great stories that test the acting chops of all of the cast. Sure, we want the arguments and the funny moments for all of the characters, but we also want to really see all of them challenged. We want to see exactly what makes them tick and deliver something that we can talk about months down the line.
