Excited to learn a little bit more about NCIS season 16 episode 12? Well, let’s start with some directing news! Rocky Carroll is getting back into the director’s chair once more for “The Last Link” and we have to imagine that, at least at this point, this is a role that is starting to feel reasonably familiar for him.

As for the story, meanwhile, this actually feels like something a little bit new because we could be seeing Gibbs hit the road with John Sydney, someone with longtime connections to his family. For more news on that, plus also another potential case within the same hour, check out the full NCIS season 16 episode 12 synopsis below:
“The Last Link” – An old family friend, Army Corporal John Sydney (Dabney Coleman), beseeches Gibbs to join him on a road trip to search for a missing military I.D. bracelet. Also, a Navy Lieutenant in NCIS protective custody is poisoned by an infamous drug dealer, on NCIS Tuesday, Jan. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
If the name Dabney Coleman is familiar to you, it’s probably because you’ve seen at least some of his work somewhere over the years. He is one of the more noteworthy character-actors working with more credits than we can possibly count here. He had a major role over on Boardwalk Empire for some time and he also has appeared in Heartland, The Guardian, and many others. Given that this character does have a history with Gibbs and his family, this suggests to us that he could be a character we get a chance to see at some other point down the road — provided of course how this story pans out. This is a show where we never want to guarantee anyone’s safety from one episode to the next.
So what do we want to see beyond this?
Hopefully, some more fun stories for the supporting characters and opportunities to see relationships grow and develop and unexpected ways. We, of course, would also like to see a whole lot more Ducky given how absent the character has been at times this season.
