Luther season 5 episode 4 (finale) spoilers: Prepare for the showdown

Luther season 5 episode 4 is coming onto BBC One in just over 24 hours, and you better be prepared for a showdown like no other. We’re gearing up for an episode that could be thrilling, action-packed, and above all else set the stage for some super-crazy stuff that could be coming up down the line.

Do we think that there could be some closure at the end of the finale? Sure, but we absolutely think that it is also worth noting that nobody really seems to be speaking about the finale right now as though it’s going to be the end. Instead, the general sentiment that we’ve been getting is that there could be a movie coming down the road, and even if that is not the case, we’re still putting some stock in the idea of another season. One way or another, we’re doubting that this is the end of the road for the franchise and there could be something more for us to enjoy down the road.

With Luther’s increasing absence from the case, Halliday leads the hunt for a monster on the loose – a killer determined to complete his final macabre masterpiece…

This season has been a fascinating one given how so much of it has been psychological — when you’ve got Alice Morgan involved, nothing is going to be easy. The return of Ruth Wilson has helped to life the series to another level, and we certainly are aware of the fact that this character is beloved among the Luther faithful and she has her own fanbase. Of course, there is a part of this that is strange given that we’re talking here about a reprehensible person and a killer … but this is certainly far from the first time that we’ve seen someone who does terrible things become popular with viewers. Dexter Morgan is one very-clear example of this; meanwhile, another can be found over in Raymond Reddington.

The craziest thing to imagine at the moment is the mere thought that the season is almost over; it was only Tuesday when the action kicked and yet now, we’re at a point when we are about to be without it yet again. It does seem like BBC One has some fantastic plans for shows throughout the next several months, but in all honesty none of them are Luther. None of them can ever hope to match it.
