For those of you wanting some new The Flash season 5 episode 10 scoop, wait no more! Today, The CW unveiled a new promo for the January 15 episode, which will be the first installment for the series in the new year. The title here is “The Flash & the Furious,” and that probably gives you at least a small clue that we are talking about cars here.

While the network has not unveiled some sort of official synopsis for this episode yet, we do think the promo offers up a reasonable amount of info as to what’s coming up next. A super-charged car like no other has been stolen, and it’s going to be up to the team in order to figure out what to do about this and how to move forward. This feels very much like a lighthearted story that sort of furthers along the meta-tech that has become a big part of season 5 so far with Cicada.
As for Cicada himself … there’s no clear sign that he’s even going to be in this episode and this hardly surprises us at all. One of the ways to look at this is strictly as follows: The Flash as a series tends to follow a pattern, and it’s one where many of the premieres are not the most exciting in the world. It doesn’t really matter if you are talking about winter premieres, season premieres, or something else entirely. Given that there are 23 episodes in a given season, there is only so much time that the writers tend to focus on the long-term story. There is a little bit of filler that needs to be thrown in there.
Luckily, the thing with The Flash is that so long as you love the series, you don’t have to worry so much about some of the filler stories — they’re still going to be entertaining and more often than not, that is precisely what you are watching the show to get in the first place. It’s a lighthearted superhero adventure that does get dark here and there; given the big twist at the end of the 100th episode with the Reverse-Flash, there is all sorts of potential for crazy-dark stories. We’ll just have to wait and see when we get there.
