SWAT season 2 episode 11 is going to be coming onto CBS Thursday night and based on early signals, this one is going to be emotional.
While we’re getting a chance to watch many of these SWAT Team members do what they do best on this series, the reality here remains that there is a lot of time that these people were out there trying to be heroes that we didn’t see. They all existed in this world long before we started to see them, and that is something that could be a central component to Thursday night’s new episode “School.” This is an episode that is going to bring some of these characters back to an especially-difficult time in their lives and a mission that had an especially tragic end to it.
Now, the team is going to be facing a mission that has similar sort of stakes to it, and we think that the title here is a pretty clear indicator of what we are talking about. This is something where the team is going to have to work together in order to get a different outcome as opposed to what they went through previously. We’ve got a feeling that, no matter what lies ahead for them, it’s going to prove itself to be a challenge. Most cases for Hondo and company are. Yet, they’ve also proven to be up for a lot of them and they have an ability to take on adversity and rise above it.
If you missed it previously, the synopsis below does give you a small indication of what’s coming up — and beyond just that, we’ve also got a sense as to how seriously the show is treating some of the subject matter here:
“School” – The SWAT team faces difficult reminders of a past school shooting when they receive a warning that a copycat plans to re-enact the crime. As the team races to stop the new threat, they flash back to the day of the tense first mission, on S.W.A.T., Thursday, Jan. 3 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Cast members Shemar Moore, Alex Russell, Jay Harrington and Lina Esco appear in a public service announcement at the end of the episode.
Without saying too much here, it likely felt important to the SWAT cast and crew that they take part in a story like “School,” largely because the issues that the team is facing here are issues that real SWAT teams would face out there in the world. While that may be the case, though, they still want to try and be sensitive.
