Angie Tribeca season 5 renewal odds: Will TBS order more?

Angie Tribeca

Following this weekend’s binge-premiere event, what’s going to be happening in terms of an Angie Tribeca season 5? In this article, we want to focus on this very subject!

At the moment, we should note that there is no formal renewal for the Rashida Jones series; yet, at the same time there is no official cancellation, either. Are we hopeful on some level that the show could come back? Sure, but we’re not entirely hopeful for a number of different reasons.

For starters, there is the way in which TBS decided to premiere this first batch of episodes in the first place. They’ve made it fairly clear over the years that they are okay doing some more experimental releases for some of their shows and what they’re doing this weekend qualifies as that and then some. You don’t exactly see many shows premiering on a Saturday over the holiday season, and we certainly don’t think that it’s a thing that helps the show’s future unless TBS decides to repeat it a lot over the course of the coming weeks. They have operated with a binge-watching strategy in the past, so with that in mind we are not necessarily ruling out the future of the series, either.

In terms of the story, it does feel like Angie Tribeca is really firing on all cylinders just in case this does turn out to be the end of the road for the series. We don’t know how else you can really describe a situation in which you have an enormous time jump and you shake up so much of your series. There has to be a certain degree of awareness at this point that you could be nearing the end and you want to make the most of the time that you have.

In general, we’ve seen over time that TBS does not necessarily keep its comedies on the air for an extended period of time. They let them air, draw some solid numbers, and then eventually send them off into the sunset. What we do appreciate about them and Angie Tribeca is that they allowed a show this zany and unique to have a platform in the first place. While we know that Brooklyn Nine-Nine is also out there, you really don’t have too many shows that are in this particular vein.

Hopefully, no matter what happens with the show’s future TBS decides to do a nice thing and just give viewers some clarity one way or another soon. If the show does get renewed for another batch of episodes, we also hope that there’s a little less of a hiatus given how insanely-long the one was leading up to season 4 coming on the air.
