Before we do too much else, let’s go ahead and share the official Lethal Weapon season 3 episode 12 synopsis right now:

Murtaugh and Cole investigate the murder of an underground MMA fighter when Murtaugh realizes his fighting moves aren’t as sharp as they once were. Meanwhile, Trish is unfulfilled by her practice and considers running for a public office. Also, Cole and Erica (guest star Nishi Munshi) try to keep things casual and uncomplicated but their plan backfires when Maya (guest star Shay Rudolph) reacts to her family changes in a negative way in the all-new “The Roger and Me” episode of LETHAL WEAPON airing Tuesday, Jan. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

The idea of Trish pursuing a political career would be an interesting one for this show, mostly because of the different storytelling possibilities that it would, in turn, open up. It would allow for more of an opportunity for people to know Roger outside of the job and for his family to have a public spotlight on him. That could be interesting, but it could also cause complications for him in the job.

Of course, Roger still has some interesting questions to think about with this job in general given that he is getting older and being out in the field is a younger cop’s game. That’s been a part of the series really from the get-go and it seems like this episode in particular is going to emphasize that in some important ways.

On the other side of this episode, remember that there are three more to come over the rest of the season. Those should allow for us to have an opportunity to see and understand further where these characters are in life and what they want for a future. We definitely do wonder, given the somewhat-uncertain future of this show, whether or not we are going to see there be some sort of big cliffhanger at the end. It’s almost a dangerous thing to do since you don’t want to leave anyone without proper closure.
