As we move into Outlander season 4 episode 10, there is one important thing to consider: The fate of Roger. He’s in grave danger following what transpired in episode 9, where misinformation potentially lead to his undoing.
Let’s kick off this preview by sharing the Outlander season 4 episode 10 synopsis, which does offer up a pretty-interesting tease for some of what’s coming up moving forward:
Jamie and Claire keep secrets from one another as they try to help Brianna process her recent trauma. But the secrets they keep cause a bigger familial rift once they are revealed and Brianna learns of a terrible misunderstanding that has had disastrous consequences for Roger.
At the end of this past episode, Jamie had beaten Roger to a pulp, thinking that he was the person responsible for what ultimately happened to Brianna. He didn’t recognize at that time that it was Stephen Bonnet, as neither Bree nor Claire had passed along that information to them. Meanwhile, it feels clear that Jamie has no plans to tell either of the two women what he’s just done to Roger — that’s something that he did as a means to protect them, but without all of the information.
Eventually, though, the thing with secrets and this show is rather simple in that they all have a tendency to get out — that’s something we do imagine is going to happen here over time, and the question that come on the other side of that is whether or not Roger can be recovered once the mistake is recognized. What’s going to happen to him? He could be beaten and punished further, or tried via some sort of 18th-century legal system. His fate at the moment appears to be in Young Ian’s hands, but Ian is really none the wiser as to who this man really is. As a matter of fact, we do wonder what Ian would say if he learns the truth about who Roger really is.
What could happen beyond the Roger storyline?
Well, one of the things that we are expecting moving forward now is that there’s going to be an opportunity to see more of the tension between the Regulators and the government. Jamie has been able to really tow the line between these multiple parties, but sooner or later, don’t you think that he is going to have to make some sort of a choice? That could be what we’re building to by the end of the season, as the entire state of Fraser’s Ridge could prove itself to be in peril.
