Shadowhunters season 3: New Alec – Izzy behind-the-scenes tease

The image below of Alec and Izzy comes courtesy of the show’s official Twitter account, and given the presence of weaponry, it feels pretty clear as to precisely what’s going to be coming up here. Having Izzy and Alec out in the field is an essential part of this show — it’s what they do and, beyond that, it’s a reminder that the Lightwoods are taking on just about any threat they face head-on. Given that there are many threats coming up, their bond and their skill set is probably going to be even more valuable. The biggest one is Jonathan, who is going to be back in his true form. Yet, we also know that Lilith isn’t completely gone for good. She’s not exactly someone who can just be killed off…
In general, the second half of season 3 should be a big one for both of these characters. For Alec, we imagine that Magnus losing his magic will have an interesting impact on their relationship and lives together. Meanwhile, there’s been talk about how the upcoming twelve episodes could have a lot of Simon / Izzy content, so for those of you who like the two of them together, there is a lot that you are going to have a chance to appreciate. The two-hour finale was written as a possible series finale, and with that, there should be closure to a lot of stories … while still at least leaving the door open slightly for more.
Shadowhunters season 3 will be returning to Freeform in February with new episodes, and we’re hoping for a fantastic celebration on-screen for what we consider this show to be — action-packed, pensive, and also very much exciting. We’d also love to see some sort of uptick in the ratings, mostly in the hopes of seeing if that could create more buzz for the future. For now, though, the plan is to just enjoy these episodes as they are. They’ll be opportunities to talk about the future down the line.
