Magnum PI episode 12 spoilers: Ken Jeong returns for post-football episode

If you recall, earlier this year it was revealed that Magnum PI was going to have a big episode coming up after the AFC Championship Game! With that, we come now bearing some details. It’s airing on Sunday, January 20, and it’s pretty clear that this episode (the twelfth of the season) will represent the show bringing some of his best. It’s a personal story for Magnum and, beyond just that, it’s a chance to see the return of Ken Jeong as fellow PI Luther Gillis.

Jeong is not the only notable guest star for this episode! Just the Magnum PI episode 12 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:

“Winner Takes All” – Magnum has an emotional connection to a case when he and every other private investigator and bounty hunter on Oahu are tasked to track down a man (Jake Matthews) accused of murder, on MAGNUM P.I., Sunday, Jan. 20 (directly after the AFC Championship Game) on the CBS Television Network. Ken Jeong returns as private investigator Luther Gillis. Former professional football player Eddie George guest stars as the man informing the bounty hunters and private eyes to the skip on the run. NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney guest stars as a bounty hunter eager to find the skip.

Is it obvious that bringing Eddie George on board is a way for Magnum PI to give us some synergy with the NFL? Absolutely, but we don’t mind since George actually has an acting resume — this isn’t just a former football player coming on with no experience in the craft. He’s appeared in a couple of episodes of Ballers as himself, and in a couple of episodes of Shooter as a different character. He’s also appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles a couple of times, and while it doesn’t seem like he is playing the same person here, the two shows are technically set within the same universe. There’s certainly a part of us that finds these little trivia bits to be fun.

This episode may be the most important one since the premiere, mostly because it’s going to have the largest total viewership and with that, this marks a chance for Magnum PI to recruit some new viewers. This has a lot of components to it, in between the action and the escapism, that many NFL fans in theory would like were they to give the show a chance.
