Floribama Shore season 2 episode 20 video: Gus, Nilsa’s quick connection
In the sneak peek that CarterMatt has for you below, you can get a small sense of that as Gus talks about how he appreciates Nilsa’s change in behavior, and also how she wishes that she was in the place that she was at now last summer. Things could have been quite different for them if she had been ready for a relationship with Gus back then when he was looking to settle down, but there is still a chance for them to be different now. As crazy and wild as this show is, there’s actually a few seconds of a romantic moment in this clip … before of course things go downhill dramatically.
What is worth noting about this preview though, is that they go downhill mostly because of someone else — a relative stranger in the form of a woman who gave Gus her number at the beach. This infuriates Nilsa to see her there, which she goes on to call “literally her worst nightmare” in confessional. The preview ends before we get a good sense as to what’s going to happen next, but we certainly do think that this could be one of the largest tests of things between Gus and Nilsa that we’ve had a chance to see so far. What happens here could really dictate the rest of the seaso for them, if not a relationship between the two then what is beyond that. It’s easy to see this go in a couple of different directions, mostly because these people are all young and surrounded by temptation. While it’s exciting to see these sort of MTV reality-show relationships work out, it typically gets more complicated when it’s roommates hooking up (for a prime example of that just look at Sammi and Ronnie from Jersey Shore).
If nothing else, at least Gus and Nilsa are offering a different sort of story as we near the end of the season. It’s nice to have some of these larger narratives in here so that the entire show doesn’t become just about watching people travel from one place to another and party segments. These people are deeper than that with their complicated histories (they’ve lived a lot of life for being so young!) and it is some of the personal stuff that will actually continue to have people tune in every week.
