Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 11: Mark Feuerstein to guest star

SVU season 20 artFor everyone out there who was a fan of Royal Pains, know that Mark Feuerstein will be gracing Law & Order: SVU season 20 soon. Let’s also say that this role is very different from one Dr. Hank Lawson. Other than a profession in the medical field, that may be the only thing that the two have in common.

We don’t really need to spend too much time explaining Feuerstein’s role here, largely because the synopsis for the January 10 episode below does that for us:

01/10/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : A woman accuses a celebrity plastic surgeon (guest star Mark Feuerstein) and his girlfriend of rape. Starring Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Kelli Giddish and Peter Scanavino. Also guest starring Alyssa Sutherland (Sadie Parker), Willa Fitzgerald (Ava Parcell), Nedra McClyde (Ilana Benjamin) and Kevin O’Rourke (Hal Taylor).

There’s at least one other familiar face that you will see in there, provided that you are a Scream fan, in Willa Fitzgerald. (Side note: When is MTV going to release season 3 of Scream? Someone at MTV help us out with that!)

The fact that Feuerstein’s character is a celebrity plastic surgeon adds another layer of drama to the case, largely because this is someone who likely uses his power in order to intimidate victims and get what he wants. It also explains why he would still be able to acquire a rather high-end clientele. The presence of his girlfriend in the case is what makes it even more surprising and atypical from many other SVU cases. There are a number of different things that the team will have to work in order to figure out here, whether it be the motive, proof, and the correct argument to make when this case arrives in a courtroom. After all, it is worth remembering now that someone like a high-end plastic surgeon probably has a top-notch legal team. This may or may not be the first time he has been accused of a criminal offense, but the guy has probably been accused of botching a number of surgeries in the past … right?

In addition to playing Hank on Royal Pains, you may also know Feuerstein from his work on CBS’ short-lived sitcom 9JKL. We’re still holding out hope for a Royal Pains revival movie or something more down the line, largely because we considered this blue-sky medical show a breath of fresh air, and it would especially be during this contentious time.
