The Walking Dead season 9: New teaser all about Alpha’s mask

Leading up to the return of The Walking Dead season 9 on AMC this February, the network has unveiled a new teaser. Suffice it to say, this one is all sorts of creepy and puts Samantha Morton’s Alpha front and center.

For those who still want some more information on Alpha, here’s some of what you need to know. This is a character with a proficiency for masks — or, to be specific, walker masks. She is the head of a group called the Whisperers, ones who have an M.O. of wearing zombie skin to blend in amidst the walkers. They can go virtually undetected and cause all sorts of havoc as a result of that.

What we are trying to say here is rather simple: These are extremely dangerous people who have their own goals and methods of doing things. This is not your typical threat, and that’s good because a show like The Walking Dead really does not need to regurgitate some of the same stories that they’ve featured on so many occasions before. They’re better off trying to find new ways to reinvent the world of the show and some the characters that live in it.

Basically, the entire second half of this season could be about reinvention in one form or another. We’re already on the other side of the time jump and beyond just that, we’re also at a point where there are still so many new mysteries to be explored. There’s a lot to be uncovered when it comes to Michonne and some of the decisions that she made on the other side of Rick Grimes’ exit. Meanwhile, there are more new characters to meet and a potential expansion of the world coming down the line. While we are deep into the series’ run at the moment, there are still a number of different creative outlets that are still worthy of some exploration.

Now, let’s just hope that the second half of The Walking Dead season 9 lives up to the hype. With a teaser like this, it’s clear that there is a lot of great stuff to be excited about.
