The Orville season 2 spoilers: A look at the first three episodes!

The OrvilleThe Orville season 2 is going to premiere on Fox in just one week! There’s absolutely a lot of fun stuff to look forward to, though it may be a little bit hard to follow.

Over the past couple of weeks, Fox has swapped around the plans for certain episodes / when they could be airing. The reason why they are able to do this with this particular show is rather simple: The Orville is largely built on standalone episodes. It’s a little old-school in that it doesn’t have a huge, super-serialized narrative that goes from one week to the next.

So, consider this article your guide for some of what’s coming, at least through the first few weeks of the season.

Sunday, December 30, Season Premiere (after football) – “As The Orville heads towards Moclus for a unique ceremony, life aboard the ship heats up when Kelly gives Ed some startling news, Gordon enlists John’s help with his dating life and Claire turns to Isaac for unlikely parenting advice in an encore of the all-new “Ja’loja” Season Two premiere episode of THE ORVILLE airing Sunday, Dec. 30 (8:00-9:00 PM PT ONLY) on FOX. (ORV-201) (TV-14 L)”

Thursday, January 3, 9:00 p.m. Eastern time – “Ed and the crew discover a planet about to be destroyed by its sun, while Bortus struggles with a controversial addiction that throws his marriage to Klyden into crisis in the all-new “Primal Urges” time period premiere episode of THE ORVILLE airing Thursday, Jan. 3 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (ORV-112) (TV-14 L)”

Thursday, January 10, 9:00 p.m. – “Ed, Gordon and Alara visit Alara’s home planet in the all-new “Home” episode of THE ORVILLE airing Thursday, Jan. 10 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (ORV-202) (TV-14 D, L, V)”

If you love The Orville, then it is probably clear based on some of this information right now that there’s a lot of great stuff coming up. You’re going to get a chance for some great twists and turns, but beyond just that, some fascinating stories all about characters, emotion, and also backstory. The third episode is one that we’re especially excited about just because it’s such a chance to get to know more about Alara.

Quick reminder

Please watch The Orville live! Because science fiction is a genre that doesn’t always get a lot of mainstream love, these are shows that need just about every live viewer possible. This is going to be the one way to ensure that there will be a season 3 for the series; we’re fairly optimistic that there will be one thanks to a hefty tax credit, but it needs good viewership in order for that to happen.
