Outlander season 4 episode 8 ratings preview: All of the possibilities

So, could the subject matter of tonight’s episode actually impact its live ratings? For the most part, we do think that this is something worth wondering. More so than that, though, we thought that the ratings will be impacted by what’s going on in terms of the holidays. We’re only two days before Christmas, after all, and that is when many people may be off doing a wide array of other things — things that don’t have anything to do with watching TV.
Basically, there’s a reason why the majority of ad-supported television is trying to steer clear of airing new episodes around this time of year — they know that live ratings are going to be impacted. Yet, that’s not something that Starz really has to worry about all that much and with that, they’re continuing to air new episodes. Will the live ratings take a hit? More than likely. As a matter of fact, our expectations at present are that Sunday’s episode is going to generate around 900,000 live viewers, a pretty hefty drop from last week’s season-high outing.
In the end, though, it won’t matter anywhere near as much as it would for other networks because sooner or later, viewers will find a way to catch up. We’re not as sure that they will be able to catch up as quickly this week as they have in the past, but there’s nothing really to worry about here for Outlander. Beyond today’s episode, there are a number of big events coming up down the season that will generate some discussion for the show. Beyond just that, there’s been a ton of buzz out there regarding the finale, including that it may be one of the biggest ones that the series has ever done. If all of that hype pays off, we could be gearing up for an incredible end to this season.
