Gotham season 5 trailer brings you villains, high stakes, and a lot more

This trailer is basically both a summary of the story so far and also a look at what lies ahead, and it includes a wide array of the series’ most-notable villains. After all, in here you’ve got a look at everyone from the Riddler to Barbara Kean to a more evolved version of Catwoman to even a notable newcomer in Bane who is ready to cause carnage in the city. All of these villains are closer to being at the height of their powers, largely due to the way in which this past season ended and how the story could be shaping up now moving forward. Gotham is not the city that it once was — there are parts of it completely under siege and effectively owned by some notable adversaries. The GCPD is at this point just trying to keep it afloat and working to ensure that it does not descend into any further chaos. They’ve got an almost-impossible challenge and we certainly do feel for them as they work in order to ensure that everyone is safe … really when nobody is.
So who is the person who can actually change everything up and make the world better? More than likely, you know the answer to that already. Bruce Wayne is, unfortunately, not anywhere close to Batman yet. He is getting more skilled and understands some of his capabilities ever, but this origin story is marathon rather than a sprint. He’s not going to suddenly wake up and realize that he is ready to be the Dark Knight. It’s a journey of many steps and throughout the weeks ahead, we’ll probably see some of these said steps taken in an attempt to really ensure that we get ever closer in the end to the results we so want.
By the end of the series finale, we will at least get to see a time jump that features more of the Batman world we know and love … but Gotham is really more about the journey than what we necessarily get at the tail end of it.
