Vikings season 5 episode 15 preview: What’s next for Heahmund?

Want to know what’s coming up on Vikings season 5 episode 15 next week? Well, for starters, this may be one of the biggest episodes you’ve had a chance to see so far this year. The title is “Hell,” and that alone likely signals that there is some danger coming for some of these characters. We also understand why there could be, mostly due to the nobody-is-safe environment that the series has forged. We know this very well in the aftermath of Ivar’s killings on tonight’s episode — this is not someone who likes to be questioned, and he’s also apparently more than fine with allowing himself to be deluded.

Here’s our feeling about Ivar at the moment — he’s the kid that grew up hoping constantly to feel some sort of acceptance. He wanted to be cared for and appreciated on some level but, for one reason or another, he just wasn’t getting that. Now that he has so much power and influence, he’s reveling in it and letting him consume him. This is going to cause some significant problems for him down the line if he’s not character. This was once a guy who was so much more attune to the world around him because he had to be. As we move forward, however, there could be some more blindspots that start to show themselves.

Bishop Heahmund is racked with guilt as he fights to renounce his passions. Vikings will clash with Saxons on the battlefield, leaving a key figure lost in the calamity.

With Heahmund, he’s in the same place that he’s always been — reconciling his duty to his God with some of his feelings as a mortal man. This conflict could consume him in his own way, but there are some other things that may distract from this particular part of the story. If you do love big, dramatic battles, this episode could prove to be one of the best of the season. It’s another nice reminder as to the series’ scale and how it is able to deliver on stories now that perhaps it was not as able to do a little bit earlier on in the series.
