Basically, what we’re trying to say here is that Cartelli could be set to have a really good 2019. She’s got a sense of who she is and the sort of performer she’s trying to be. She also has a distinct singer-songwriter vibe that is unique in this particular era.
One thing we do like (besides the song itself) is that NBC is still working in order to promote their reigning champ. It’s not something that they’ve done with every other winner that we’ve had a chance to see over the years.
Tonight is really a launching pad for Brynn and moving forward from here, we’ll have a good chance to see precisely what the rest of her run with this song is going to look like. While nothing is ever guaranteed (or close to it) with this show, we do really like that there seems to be a good architecture in place in order for her to succeed. She’s got a new record deal, a very famous supporter in Kelly, and the potential for more great songs coming down the line. She is still young, after all, and that means that there are plenty more opportunities coming for her to shine.
Of course, we also think that she could have a chance to pass on a little bit of wisdom to whoever ends up winning the voice tonight in between Kirk Jay, Chevel Shepherd, Kennedy Holmes, or Chris Kroeze. All of them are different performers from her, but we do like to think that there is this sort of super-secret fraternity out there of former The Voice winners where they can share stories about some of the stuff that they’ve gone through over the years and how staying topical after the show is not exactly an easy task.
