The Good Doctor season 2 episode 15: Freddie Highmore directing

As you may have learned earlier this year, Freddie Highmore is directing an installment of The Good Doctor season 2. To go along with that, we’ve got some more information on that now.

In a new post on Twitter below, you can see via show executive producer David Shore that Highmore’s director’s chair is now set and ready to go! Freddie is directing the 15th episode of the second season, which is most likely going to air at some point in February. This is the second episode of scripted television that Highmore has directed, as he previously had the role back on Bates Motel for an episode. Consider this another sign that he is one of the most multi-faceted talents on television; he wrote the premiere episode, and now he’s adding this role to his resume.

So what do we want to see from Highmore’s episode? We know that it can be hard to direct yourself so, with that in mind, we wouldn’t have all that much of a problem with him having a slightly-smaller role in this episode. This is one of those things that is rather unpredictable, so it’s hard to talk all that much about it in advance.

Before we do get around to Highmore’s episode of the show, one thing is certainly clear: There’s a lot of other drama that the writers are going to have to unpack. Take, for example, the conclusion to the epic fall finale. We know now that Shaun Murphy is in the midst of an episode as the hospital descends into chaos. The fate of Dr. Lim is currently in jeopardy and, beyond just that, we’re also going to see a rather-tricky situation for Dr. Alex Park as his kid may be one of the people infected. There are so many different cliffhangers that are out there and there are a lot of different ways in which some of these stories could go.

Season 2 of The Good Doctor will wrap up in the new year, well before we get around to May sweeps. We do think that there will be more opportunities for Highmore to direct in the future, provided that he wants to. After all, the odds are absolutely in the show’s favor that the series will be renewed for a season 3.
