Crisis on Infinite Earths: Is Supergirl, The Flash hype too much?

Crisis On Infinite Earths

Let’s face it — we are still a really long period of time away from the Crisis on Infinite Earths coming onto The CW in 2019. Yet, at the same time, it’s really not too early to start talking about it!

To be specific here, we are hoping to talk about what’s going to happen with some characters. (Warning: There are some comic-book spoilers ahead.)

In the comic book of the same time, Crisis ended up claiming multiple lives, with two of the biggest ones being that of Barry Allen and then Kara Zor-El. Theoretically, this is a crossover event that could end up claiming the lives of two of the Arrowverse’s most-iconic characters. That’s a crazy thing to think about and it really does lead to us wondering the following question: Would The CW really allow for some of its heroes to die? Television and comics are different mediums, and it’s extremely rare to see a major network show kill off a lead in the middle of the season.

We know that The Flash has been hyping up Crisis for a while; after all, the newspaper headlines about Barry Allen vanishing have been there from the start. Yet, they don’t guarantee anything. This feels like the one thing that is routinely missing at the moment from most discourse surrounding the crossover: Assuming something based on the comics seems wrong given the fact that the Arrowverse doesn’t always follow them.

What are some workarounds to killing Barry or Kara? Think along the lines of killing off some other notable characters, or finding a way to kill them only to then bring them back. It’s going to be hard for the writers to keep this story a secret one way or another, largely because it feels like this crossover has been lined up in order to air right in the middle of the season, somewhat similar to what we got this time around. With that in mind, it’s pretty foolish to just draw an enormous assumption that the show’s going to keep everything the same.

At the moment, our advice is simple: Be really worried about Crisis on Infinite Earths. Yet, at the same time, don’t press the giant red panic button just yet. We’ll hopefully get some more insight regarding the crossover at some point in the new future.
